Indoor PE Sessions - Uniform13 January 2026 (by David Lovatt (d.lovatt)) |
Dear Parents and Carers,
We would like to remind you of our expectations for Physical Education (PE) lessons that take place in the school hall.
Footwear for Hall-Based PE
For safety and hygiene reasons, children take part in hall-based PE barefoot, with no shoes, socks or tights worn during the lesson. This helps to reduce the risk of slipping and allows pupils to move safely and confidently during physical activities.
If your child has a medical issue that requires them to wear footwear, such as a verruca or another diagnosed condition, we ask that an adult contacts the class teacher in advance so appropriate arrangements can be made. In these cases, suitable indoor footwear may be permitted, but this must be agreed beforehand.
Jewellery and PE
In line with UK health and safety guidance for PE, including guidance from the Association for Physical Education, earrings must be removed for all PE lessons. Where removal is not possible, piercings must be securely covered with appropriate protective equipment (e.g., medical tape or sports guards) to minimise the risk of injury, in accordance with health and safety guidance.
PE Curriculum Review
We would also like to inform you that we are currently conducting a review of our PE curriculum to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our pupils and reflects current best practice. Further information will be shared with parents and carers over the next couple of weeks.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep PE lessons safe and enjoyable for all children. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
Kind regards,
Mr Lovatt
