Explore our Environment
Our environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning. We strive to create an enabling environment that encourages our children to play imaginatively and exploratively because they feel relaxed, comfortable and ‘at home’.
At Kings Oak we have taken inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach. We use lots of natural colours and resources in our play environments and real-life objects such as China tea sets. Like Reggio, we believe that a child’s environment is also their teacher; a child can learn just as much from the environment they are in as they do from their parents and teachers.
We have three separate learning spaces in our EYFS department. One for the nursery children, two rooms for the reception children as well as the shared space of the “round room.” We also have a large outdoor playground and a separate forest school area.
