We want to remind parents/carers, that swimming lessons form part of the National curriculum. As such, the school covers the entire cost of the lessons which is over £12,000 for the coach hire, pool hire, swimming teachers. We consider this to be a school priority as this is a life skill of vital importance and knowing that our children have the understanding on how to be safe in water and can swim at least 25 metres is crucial.

With this in mind, we must state how disappointing it is when children miss these lessons.  It can’t be helped if a child is genuinely ill, but recently children have not taken part for various reasons for example they have forgotten their kit, because they can’t remove jewellery, to attend routine appointments.

We implore you prioritise this and ensure your child arrives at school ready to take part in a lesson which could ultimately save their lives.
