Barnsley’s Local Offer – supporting families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities18 April 2024 (by Jade Taylor (JadeT)) |
As part of BMBC’s ongoing commitment to supporting families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we are reminding families about their Local Offer.
The Local Offer website provides information about local support services, education and things to do; but it's not just a list or a phone book - it’s a joint effort to make sure families have access to the right services at the right time, wherever they are on their SEND journey. Key features of the Local Offer include:
- A wide range of educational, healthcare, and community support services available in our area, all in one convenient location.
- Guidance and information based on their child's unique needs, ensuring they have access to the resources best suited to their situation.
- Rights and entitlements under the law, including the SEND Code of Practice, and how to advocate effectively for children's needs within the education system.
- Collaboration and partnership between families, schools, healthcare providers, and local authorities to ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive.
The Local Offer empowers families to support children with diverse needs. We encourage all staff members to familiarise themselves and share this valuable resource with families and colleagues by visiting https://bit.ly/3TfVWgZ
