Religious Education
Vision
The aim of Religious Education at Kings Oak Primary Learning Centre is to help pupils develop beliefs and values, and promote the virtues of respect and empathy, which are important in our diverse society. We believe this fosters civilised debate and reasoned argument, and helps pupils to understand the place of religion and belief in the modern world.
Lessons at Kings Oak follow the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education Website (NATRE), allowing pupils to:
- Gain knowledge about and understanding of a range of religions and worldviews,
- Express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and worldviews,
- Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage with religions and worldviews.
These lessons are designed to be engaging, thought provoking and challenging. Pupils will encounter and respond to a range of stories, artefacts and other religious materials. They learn to recognise that beliefs are expressed in a variety of ways and begin to use specialist vocabulary.
